Playing is Creating

--
At performers House the ancient myth of the North is coming back to life. A dancer, an actress and a singer are redressing the myth of the three norns with plastic and tissue.  The performance was created by rattling with transparent plastic, words and tissue.

Last week Performers House was hosting four different workshops with four different genres: Electronic music, "Voice and expression", "The daily life of an artist", and finally "Thinking sideways". The results of the workshop "Thinking sideways" with Rudi Skotheim was different showings based on the group constellation - however the group of Rebekka Bohse Meyer was the one who achieved to combine three art forms: Music, theater and dance.

Rebekka Bohse Meyer attended the workshop and chosed this workshop particularly because of the blend of art forms. She is normally a student on the dance line at Performers House however during this week she chosed to work with a theater line Student and a music line student creating a performance.

“Rudi wanted us to research and explore which let us to a lot of playing with different material for example plastic and tissue. Then we got the idea building up the concept about the three norns from the Nordic mythology.“

--

Rudi Skotheim Jensen (Norway) who is an independant New Circus and choreography artist held the workshop week entitled "Thinking sideways". His previous work is mostly a blend of the different art forms, and the workshop was intended to provide new perspectives on how to work interdisciplinary. His working methods are mainly research and "lab" work meaning that every idea must be tried out on the floor before killing or buying the idea.

--

“The work of interdisciplinary art interests me because it can reach higher levels of expression. For example, in a dance performance it can be difficult to explain everything, so when you combine it with music or theater you can express yourself in different levels and thereby reach a wider audience.“
