Visiting the German bunker at Silkeborg Bad

We went to the museum of art, Silkeborg Bad, in the forest with our Danish language and culture team on Thursday March 11th. A nearby bunker was the German army’s strategic base in Denmark during World War II. It is a bunker that they built under the ground and it was hidden on the right side of the museum building. In the bunker we saw many things, which the German army had used during the war: guns, lamps, clothes, shoes, beds and so on. The guard is welcoming and he was telling us how the German army was doing during this world war and that the base was planned because inside it they could see trough a telescope and see what is happening around and then they could easily attack their enemies. Inside the base they developed a protective measure to keep them protected. They stayed in this bunker and they were secure. We also saw the place of a healthy water source where rich people used to come and relaxed themselves with their family- it was nice.
Visiting the city hall
We were in the city hall on Thursday May 18th and we went to the hall where the members of the city council are discussing the situation for Silkeborg citizens. There are 42 chairs inside and the representatives of the citizens will be seated in this room once every month. There is also a place for the public, who can come, and they have 15 minutes to ask questions too. In the council there are 30 percent women and 70 per cent men. We also saw the place where they celebrate weddings and after celebration they give a present to the spouses. You can see in the picture the short building near the big one. Citizens can also have many services in the “kommune” (municipality), they can have a CPR-number, pay taxes, register for a job and so on.
A visit of laban students at Performers House
19 students from a school of dance in London came to visit on Friday March 25th 2011 with two teachers, and they are so cool. On Saturday they went to discover many things in Aarhus. Some of them were in the museum on Saturday after brunch and they found it fantastic. They came back before dinner, and at half past seven they did a contact improvisation in the big stage. On Monday 28th they made a performance in the big stage at half past seven and it was so nice to get this kind of interpretation. It began by a solo: “News”, performed by the teacher Alice Sara, and then the Laban students did an interpretation named “In the neighbourhood”. They find various ways to focus on presence and of using the space. It was interesting to see the work of students from another school and to get an idea of what their school is like.
The Laban team went back to London on Tuesday morning. It was nice to meet them and it also teaches us something about the differences in the way they study and in the way they express their sensations and feelings.
