17. March 11/ Annie discovers more interesting things in her daily life

My first month at Performers House has been challenging. At first I took a pictures of the dining room at brunch on Saturday and the Performers House building. It's so beautiful.

--
I first say a special thanks to the administrators of this school for giving me this opportunity to discover all these nice things and I am so impressed. When I arrived here I was so impressed. All things was new to me and I decided that it will be a challenge for me to adapt as soon as possible to the new climate. So many changes is destabilizing to most people, because you leave a warm region for a cold one and you are confronted with a new environment with a different weather and a different kind of life.

--
I say I need to be strong and the climate is the first thing that i should take seriously. I don't have problems with the food because we almost have all of these dishes in Cameroon (potatoes , cabbage, green salad, beetroot, carrots, etc.) I started my course and I am still learning modern dancing technique.

--

I was wondering and very pensive. I had many questions in my head, like how could I cope with this climate? What are people like here with kind of life they have and so on. But at the first contact I discovered that people are very nice here and they started to have confidence in me. And I say, yeah, I can speak with anybody and they will not take me for a stranger. And I think, this mix of people is fine. We are in a school where students come from different regions and this intercultural environment is nice because it also teaches us how to live together in society with our differences without discrimination or prejudice. And even to accept and respect any one. It is cool to be here and I am happy for it.

On saturday, I was walking around the town and I took these pictures. so I discovered that the Danish have a weekly market where persons can come with their products in their car, put it on a table or some of them who have vans can offer theirs things from inside of it.

--

Those are mostly people who sell bread or things that we can find in a bakery. Others sell clothes and I found it interesting because even in our country, Cameroon, we also have this kind of markets but only in the villages where we call them “bayam sellam” (“buy and sell” in pidgin-english). People will go there to buy and then go to sell afterwards in their own town. They buy things like plantains, bananas, cassava, vegetables and many kinds of food. The markets are only in the village, because the town is for he industry and houses, and we have the space in the villages to plant many things that we cannot do in the town. Thats why they have to go to the markets and bring food back to supply people. I found it nice at the marketplace in Silkeborg and this day there were many people in the park and it is so touching.

These pictures I took on March 4th when we were walking in the forest with our dance teacher Andreas. and it was so cold but it was nice because we did a special warm up. We discovered many nice places to relax the body and we walked along the forest and discovered this bridge which is made of wood like it would be in my village. It made me remember that when we are going to the river we walk along a bridge like this one, but here the surface of water is frozen and we can slide and play on top of it. It was wonderful. Then we continued our walk along the forest. I found it fantastic, it was great.

Walking along the forrest

On March 15th we were visiting the museum with our teacher of Reflections, Kaare. We walked there and admired the nice pictures, many graphics and many works of different artists. It was moving to see this diversity of work. I really admire the work of Asger Jorn (1914-1973), who is fantastic.

--

He had and exhibition in Paris 1948 but people did not understand him, only two other artists and a danish artist undestood him and they founded an association (COBRA) they were only four in the beginning. Asger Jorn was an artist with many caps: painter, drawer, sculpturer, his work is phenomenal. He also worked much with a french artist called Pierre Wemaére (1913-2010). They used many materials. He worked during all his life and he was living in Paris but after being ill with tuberculosis, he came back to Silkeborg under treatment for eighteen months. It was only after many years that people really discovered his value and perspicacity. He lived with his family and his new wife. He continued to do his work and many things to improve the respect for works of art.

--

I tried to take a picture with my camera but my battery was low so I only took one picture of a weaving machine and two women who were weaving and they told me that they are a group of twenty people who work on it. I it is a hard work and it demands concentration to weave. They showed me for five minutes how to hold and to pass the straight.
