10. March 11/ Simple stories – expressive videos – watch!

Video-production at Performers House is a demanding subject. The ambitions is to work creatively with film-language, and since film actors should be “in love with the camera” according to teacher Jeppe Hovmann - the team is called Lovers With a Camera.
Without millions of kroner and with quite simple video equipment the students are thrown into a row of chalenges – making short films on the basis of some rules or “dogmas”, that must be kept in respect. Here's a couple of examples.

The first task in the spring semester 2011 had very simple rules: In the video there should be two people on a bench. One of the persons should be driving the story, and the bench should play a part. One team of students came up with: “Torn apart”.

One of the tasks for the video teams on last semester had the following rules: There should be a midget in the film, and a nod constituting a point of no return – an important turning point in the “story”. Secondly the team should use the surrounding noises, so there is no added noise or sound on the video. This example had the short but significant title: “The Nod”.
